Success StoriesThese are just some of the lost and abandoned animals who found loving new homes.
This dog had been run over in San Fulgencio. It had a broken hip and leg, luckily it had an identification chip and the owner was informed. Unfortunately the bill was going to be too high for the owners to pay so they had no choice but to have him euthanized. On hearing this Mark, the Councillor for Animals got in touch with Brenda and she offered K9 club to pay half the costs which the owners and vets were delighted about, so much so they all had tears in their eyes. Now the dog is back at home recovering from his operation.
Lucy, a 3yr old Cocker Spaniel was found in a terrible state, she had hundreds of ticks on her and consequently had heart worm. The lady that found her wanted to keep her so K9 agreed to pay the bills to have her spayed and chipped. When the Vet examined Lucy more closely he discovered she has mammary tumours. K9 offered to pay for the operations and she has fully recovered. UPDATE May
09: Lucy developed lung cancer and has died, she will forever be in our hearts.
Her owner is once again fostering dogs for the K9 Club. She tells us that this
helps her to cope with what has happened to Lucy and much worse things that
happen to many other dogs that are abandoned and never rescued.
Another heartbreaking sight was Aimee. In all our time rescuing animals we have never come across an animal so under weight. She could hardly stand and just wanted to sleep constantly. She was placed in a foster home until a lovely lady came along who had unfortunately just lost her own Greyhound and her other dog was missing the company. She took Aimee home to meet Ellie her other dog and they bonded straight away. She now has a loving life like every animal should have.
This is Aimee 6 months on, she has gained weight and now stands with her head held high.
This tiny kitten was dumped outside Amiguitos Vets overnight in a cardboard box. On opening the box we discovered this kitten with its insides coming out through a hole in the skin. He was immediately taken in for surgery and a week later re-homed with a wonderful new family.
